Former Philippine National Police Chief turned lawmaker, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa believed that his fellow lawmaker, Senator Loren Legard could face the possibility of having her rank as Reserve of the Philippine Air Force could be stripped off due to her alleged support with the CPP-NPA-NDF.

The statement of Sen. Bato Dela Rosa regarding the possibility of the senator’s Reserve rank came out after Sen. Legarda made a statement allegedly supporting the CPP-NPA-NDF as she believed that the government has no valid reasons why these groups be declared as enemies of the state.

Sen. Legarda released the following statement to the mainstream media and it was re-posted by various social media pages on Facebook.

Read the Complete Statement of Sen. Legarda:

I do not recall what law or what pronouncement of government has declared the Communist Party of the Philippines or similar organizations, movements, beliefs, or associations could be declared as enemies of the state. It’s so difficult to identify that,” Sen. Legarda said.

“I say that not in contrary to my good friend Senator Tolentino’s manifestation today, or those who wish to associate with them. I stand here as someone who has worked with the so-called ‘left’ of this country and was admired many of those who shared the same vision for our country who may belong to those who are considered ‘left of center’ and there is nothing wrong with that, mr. President,” the veteran lawmaker added further.

According to Sen. Bato Dela Rosa, the senator who claimed that there’s nothing wrong with the CPP-NPA-NDF should decide for herself whether she will be on the side of the government or on the side of the enemies of the state, adding the fact that she is a senator and at the same time a reservist.

Sen. Dela Rosa was quoted as saying “His loyalty can be questioned… because you can’t be red and white when you’re in the service. You can’t go left and right if you’re wearing the uniform.” said Dela Rosa.

“If you show sympathy for the enemies of the state, your personality is questionable,” Sen. Dela Rosa added.

As of press time the Armed Forces of the Philippines did not release an official statement yet regarding the pronouncement made by one of the country’s veteran legislators and a reservist of the AFP, Sen. Loren Legarda.
