East London (South Africa): With the help of unbeaten half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women’s cricket team defeated West Indies by 56 runs in the first match of the T20 series. The Indian team, which won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 167 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. In response, the West Indies team could only manage 111 runs for four wickets.

Opener Yastika Bhatia and Mandhana shared a 33-run partnership for India. Bhatia was dismissed on 18 by off-spinner Karishma Ramharak.
