Highlights

- IKDRC enabled for Uterus Transplant
- Infertility problem in about 15 percent of India’s women
The Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center (IKDRC) has become the first Government Uterus Transplant Center in the country. The biggest thing is that IKDRC has also become the first hospital in the world where two uterus transplants have been done in a day. Uterus transplantation was done on two different AUFI patients here on the day of Daughters Day. The biggest thing is that in the body of these daughters, the uterus of their mothers was transplanted. This operation was done successfully late on Sunday night. This operation was completed in three phases. In the first step, the uterus is removed from the donor’s body. In the second stage, bench surgery of the organs was done and in the third stage the uterus was transplanted. All this was done under the chairmanship of Dr. Vineet Mishra.
The first patient is 28-year-old Reena
The first operation was by 28-year-old Reena Vanpriya, a housewife who got married three years ago. She was suffering from irregular menstruation and didelphis uterus. Didelphys is a rare congenital condition where a woman is born with two uteruses. This is commonly called a double uterus. It can cause pregnancy complications and painful menstruation. However, Reena’s 50-year-old mother donated her uterus to help her daughter experience the joy of motherhood.
The second patient is 22-year-old Tabassum Bano.
The second patient was 22-year-old Tabassum Bano. Tabassum Bano, who has been married for a year and a half and has Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, a female reproductive system disease. In this disease, the woman is either born without a vagina or her vagina is underdeveloped. So she was not able to conceive. But this problem of the daughter was solved by the 48-year-old mother of Tabassum by donating her uterus. On the day of Daughter’s Day, a mother gave her uterus to her daughter and filled her life with the joy of motherhood.
Will be ready for pregnancy in next 4-5 months
The doctors said in the statement that regular menstruation is expected to start in the next one and a half months after the transplant and possibly pregnancy in the next 4-5 months. It is estimated that about 15 percent of the female population of India has problems related to infertility and 1 in 5000 women do not have a uterus.
