U19 World Cup 2023 | India’s U-19 World Cup star Hrishita Basu receives grand welcome at Kolkata airport

Kolkata: India’s Under-19 World Cup (U19 World Cup 2023) winning star player Hrishita Basu was given a grand welcome by her family and friends at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. Hrishita Basu and her team have brought laurels to their country. Her family and fans were very happy to see Hrishita. The fans greeted Hrishita loudly to the beat of drums and welcomed her with great enthusiasm and happiness by showering flowers.

West Bengal Sports Minister Arup Biswas and Cricket Association of Bengal Snehasish Ganguly also welcomed the young cricketer at the Kolkata airport. Ganguly congratulated him and the team and said that the country is proud of him.

Congratulating the three Bengali cricketers Harshita Basu, Tita Das and Richa Ghosh, the Sports Minister said, ‘They are the daughters of the country. I am so proud of them. I congratulate Shefali Verma and the entire team for this historic win. He said, “Three Bengal players and one bowling coach contributed for the country. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated him and also announced awards for him.

CAB president Ganguly termed the historic victory of the Under-19 women’s team as revolutionary for Bengal cricket and hoped for something big in Indian cricket in the future.

Ganguly said, “Winning a World Cup at any level is wonderful and difficult. This victory is a revolution for Bengal cricket and Indian cricket. We hope that families having girl child will come forward and encourage them. I can see something big happening in Indian cricket.”

Speaking to ANI, Hrishita Basu said, “We expressed victory by going to the battlefield. It’s real and we are ecstatic to take home the cup. Basu said that she got inspiration from MS Dhoni, Jhulan Goswami and said that she wants to be like them.

Regarding the felicitation of the World Cup stars by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, Basu said, “We felt happy after being felicitated by the BCCI Secretary. We are getting immense love from the country and we want to play for the Indian women’s cricket team.”
