The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday recorded 2,619 new coronavirus infections—the highest in six days—pushing the nationwide caseload to 3,916,162.
According to its latest bulletin, there are currently 26,363 active cases in the Philippines, up from 24,843 on Thursday,
Data also showed that there were only 1,074 new recoveries, the lowest number in two weeks.
Total recoveries increased to 3,827,320 while the death toll rose to 62,479.
Metro Manila remained the region with the highest number of new cases in the last 14 days with 10,000, followed by Region IV-A with 3,800, Region III with 2,299, Region XI with 1,251, and Region VI with 1,017.
In terms of cities and provinces, Quezon City reported the highest number of fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 14 days with 2,206. It was followed by the City of Manila with 1,476 cases, Cavite with 1,261, Rizal with 1,155, and Bulacan with 981.
As of Thursday, the country’s bed occupancy rate was 26.8%, with 7,780 beds occupied and 21,204 vacant.
A total of 18,774 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday, and 338 testing laboratories submitted their results.
