Hyderabad. Fifties from Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli and a century partnership between the two helped India beat Australia by six wickets in the third and final T20 International to win the series 2-1 on Sunday. Chasing Australia’s target of 187, India shared a 104-run third wicket partnership between Suryakumar (69 off 36 balls, 5 sixes, 5 fours) and Kohli (63 off 48 balls, 4 sixes, 3 fours) With one ball remaining, scored 187 runs for four wickets. Hardik Pandya also played an unbeaten 25 not out.
Earlier, Australia scored 186 for seven with half-centuries from Tim David (27 balls, 54 runs, four sixes, two fours) and Cameron Green (52 off 21 balls, seven fours, three sixes). David added 68 runs for the seventh wicket with Daniel Sams (28 not out in 20 balls, two sixes, one four) to take the team to a strong score.

Chasing the target, India lost the wicket of Lokesh Rahul (01) in the first over itself, who was caught by wicketkeeper Matthew Wade off Sams’ ball. Captain Rohit Sharma (17) hit the first six of the innings on Josh Hazlewood. He welcomed the captain of the opposing team, Pat Cummins, with a four, but in the same over, trying to hit a six, was caught by Sams.
Kohli and Suryakumar then took the innings forward. Suryakumar opened the account with a four off Cummins while Kohli hit sixes and fours off successive deliveries from Hazlewood. India scored 50 for two in the power play. Suryakumar hit two fours in a row on Glenn Maxwell while also hit a six on Sams. Kohli also hit a six off Adam Zampa.
Suryakumar took India’s score past 100 runs in the 11th over with a six on Cummins. He completed his fifty in 29 balls with two consecutive sixes on Zampa. Suryakumar hit a four and a six on Hazlewood but in the same over he was caught by Finch on the boundary. India needed 44 runs to win in the last five overs. Kohli completed his half-century in 37 balls with a run off Green but only five runs were scored in this over. Only seven runs were scored in Sams’ next over. Hardik Pandya eases the pressure with a four on Cummins. India needed 21 runs in the last two overs.
Hardik hit a six off the very first ball of Hazlewood in the 19th over. 10 runs were scored in this over. Kohli hit Sams’ first ball six in the final over but was caught by Finch on the next ball. Pandya, however, took India to the target with a four off the fifth ball. Earlier, Australia batted vigorously in the first four and last five overs. The team added 56 runs in the first four overs and 63 runs in the last five overs.
The spinners impressed from India’s side. Axar Patel (3 wickets for 33 runs) was the most successful bowler. He got good support from Yuzvendra Chahal (1 wicket for 22 runs). Jasprit Bumrah (50 for no wicket in four overs) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1 for 39 in three overs) proved to be very costly. Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first, after which Green gave Australia a stormy start. He added 44 runs in just 3.3 overs for the first wicket with captain Aaron Finch (07). In the very first over of Bhuvneshwar, Green showed his attitude with sixes and fours in successive balls and then in the next over, Axar also hit two fours.

Green completed his half-century in just 19 balls with a run off Bhuvneshwar. However, he was caught by Rahul in the same over. Australia scored 66 for two in the power play. Glenn Maxwell (06) returned to the pavilion after being hit by the precise target of the letter, while Yuzvendra Chahal stumped Steve Smith (09) at the hands of wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik to make Australia 84 for four. Josh Inglis (24) and David then completed the team’s century in the 12th over.
David welcomes Harshal Patel with a six at long off. In the next over, Akshar gave Australia the fifth blow by getting England caught by Rohit at backward point and then in the same over, the in-form Matthew Wade (01) was caught on his own delivery. David scored 21 runs on Bhuvneshwar in the 18th over with two consecutive sixes and a four. Sams added 18 runs in Bumrah’s next over with a six and a four.
