Hyderabad: A view of how crazy people are about cricket in the country was seen at the Gymkhana ground in Hyderabad, where a huge crowd of people gathered to buy tickets. By 10 in the morning, before the opening of the counter, there was a 4 kilometer long line. As soon as the gates were opened for counter tickets, people started shuffling and there was chaos all around. The commotion increased so much that the police had to lathi-charge. Many people got injured in the stampede. Some people fell unconscious in the crowd. They have been admitted to the hospital.
Cricket fans also raised slogans against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), alleging that the HCA has scammed ticket sales and black marketing of tickets is being done. The police also blamed the HCA for this chaos.
#WATCH , “One of the main reasons is mismgmt by HCA. There were just 2 counters. Also, it rained, everybody tried to enter & 2-3 people fell down. 4 people were taken to hospital. That’ll be probed,” says Addl CP, L&O, Hyderabad City on stampede during #INDvAUS match tickets sale pic.twitter.com/YLw8ubwVpV
