New Delhi: Islamists in Bangladesh have hurt the Hindu religious sentiments of cricketer Liton Das on Sunday 25 September. Not only this, some extremists even asked him to convert to Islam. All this happened because Liton Das shared greetings to the people on the occasion of Mahalaya. After which he had to face such hatred.
Bangladeshi batsman Liton Das shared a picture of an idol of Goddess Durga in a Facebook post. In which he wrote in the caption, “Subho Mahalaya! Maa Durga is coming.” Let us tell you that Mahalaya marks the beginning of Durga Puja. As soon as Litton posted this, Islamists took to his timeline and started using dirty words.
Not only this, the extremists abused Das for being a follower of Hinduism. Fellow Islamists also condemned idol worship and made fun of the ‘clay made’ idol, a Hindu deity. Islamists also expected Liton Das to convert to the so-called ‘One True Faith’ aka Islam. It is noteworthy that according to the beliefs, Mahalaya symbolizes the arrival of Goddess Durga on Earth from Mount Kailash.
Some people made many comments on Liton Das’s post. A man named Miyad said, “The best religion in the world is Islam.”

Zaman commented on Lytton’s post, “Any religion has no value on earth other than Islam.”

Not only this, K.R. Turan even said that, “You people should understand that these idols made of clay will not do any work. Because these idols are meaningless. Therefore you should believe in Allah your Creator. I welcome you to the fold of Islam. Get on the right track.”
KR TuRan wrote, “These stone idols cannot be sacred to anyone. Any rational individual will not worship an idol carved in stone. I welcome you to the fold of Islam. Come to the right path.”

Let us tell you that this is not the first incident of hatred towards religious minorities especially the Hindu community in Bangladesh. In this viral video a reporter asks the child which cricketer he wants to meet. Responding to this the child says, “I want to meet Mushfiqur, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Sariful.” When asked about Soumya Sarkar, the child said, “Soumya Sarkar is a Hindu cricketer. I don’t want to meet him.”
