Karnataka News: Karnataka Energy, Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar on Saturday alleged that the Congress promoted the activities of the Popular Front of India (PFI) during its rule. Addressing reporters in Udupi, Kumar said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost 18 of its workers as a result of the Congress promoting PFI. The minister said the raids on PFI and SDPI offices in the state were a natural act following the killing of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader Pravin Netaru.
‘Former Chief Minister Siddhamaiah was the father of corruption’
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating against the PFI. Kumar alleged that the Congress during its rule had created a state of unrest in the state by withdrawing cases against SDPI and PFI workers. He termed the Congress’ ‘PECM’ campaign as a ‘bundle of lies’. He alleged that former chief minister Siddhamaiah was the “father” of corruption, and said the Congress has no moral right to criticize the BJP-led government.
‘BJP will come to power again in the next election’
Minister V Sunil Kumar said that if he has any complaint, he should approach the Lokayukta or raise it in the state assembly. On the proposed electricity tariff hike in the state, the minister said that the rate hike is done every year. He said the rate has been fixed due to the hike in coal prices. Responding to a question, the minister said the BJP would come to power again in the state in the next assembly elections and Basavaraj Bommai would lead.
