WFI controversy: Latest Development
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will present his side in front of the media at 12 o’clock. It is believed that during this time he can also announce his resignation.
Earlier Thursday was full of action. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur held a meeting with the players at his residence. Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya, Babita Phogat, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Anshu Malik were present in the meeting which lasted till late night.
Earlier, Olympic and other international medal winning wrestlers sat on a dharna at Jantar Mantar for the second day on Thursday. Former wrestler Babita Phogat reached Jantar Mantar on behalf of the central government and assured all possible help to the protesting wrestlers.
Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik met the representatives of the government. When no concrete result came out of the talks, the wrestlers expressed their displeasure in the press conference. Vinesh Phogat, who was looking most angry, said that the allegations we have leveled against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are completely correct.
At the same time, Bajrang Punia said that we want the wrestling association to be dissolved. Even if he resigns, he will make his people sit there again. His own people are also sitting in the state wrestling association, so we want to dissolve the association itself.
