    Lord Buddha is considered to be the God of the followers of Buddhism. But there is a place in Bihar where people worship Lord Buddha according to Hindu rituals. In Tiyuri village of Nalanda district, people worship Lord Buddha in the form of Bhairo Baba.

     

    The idol of Lord Buddha is installed in the temple of Tiyuri village. People living here worship Lord Buddha according to Hindu rituals. The villagers tell that like other Hindu deities, the idol of Lord Buddha kept here is worshiped by the people here and the devotees coming here in the form of Bhairo Baba.

    Surendra Singh, a resident of Tiyuri village, says that the idol of Lord Buddha, whom the villagers worship as Bhairo Baba, has been installed in the village for more than 100 years. Looking at the idol, it appears that it is made of some precious stone. Despite the passage of so much time, the idol still retains its luster.

    There have been unsuccessful attempts to steal dozens of times.

    Villagers tell that there have been unsuccessful attempts to steal the idol of Lord Buddha (Bhairo Baba) by thieves dozens of times. Earlier the idol was installed in an open place outside the village. Which was later made safe by making a temple. The last theft attempt was made in the year 2014. Thieves tried their best to take away the idol but could not take it outside the village limits. If the people of the village are to be believed, then some unpleasant incident has definitely happened with those who have tried to steal the idol.

    On the day of Ram Navami, people come from far off places to worship Bhairo Baba. It is a belief that whoever prays to Bhairon Baba with a true heart. His wishes definitely come true. Apart from pain and disease, couples also come to ask for a vow for having a child. After the wish is fulfilled, after worshiping in the temple premises itself, the work of shaving is done.

    A story of getting the idol of Lord Buddha is in vogue. The people of the village tell that some people of the village were sitting under a mango tree to get relief from the heat. That’s why one of them was digging a hole in the ground with a spade. Then suddenly the spade hit a stone, then people removed the soil by digging a pit there and then a black colored statue of Lord Buddha appeared. Apart from this, another statue was seen which was even lower than that, leaving it, the villagers installed the statue of Lord Buddha on a nearby high mound and started worshiping it as Bhairo Baba.

    Holi is celebrated after applying color to Lord Buddha (Bhairo Baba).

    Holi begins in the village only after Lord Buddha Bhairo Baba is colored. The villagers reach Bhairon Baba’s temple with a drum. Where they are first colored with Gulal, only after which Holi is celebrated in the village.
