(UPDATE) THE camp of model Deniece Cornejo on Thursday filed a motion seeking the transfer of actor and television host Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro from the National Bureau of Investigation Detention Center to the Taguig City Jail.
“It is respectfully prayed that the instant Manifestation with Urgent Motion be resolved urgently, and that the Honorable Court issue and Order directing the proper officer of the National Bureau of Investigation Detention Center to immediately transfer the accused (Navarro), from the National Bureau of Investigation Detention Center to Taguig City Jail,” read part of the three-page motion filed before the Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 69.
The motion for the issuance of status quo ante over the July 21, 2022 decision over the rape and attempted rape case against Navarro was denied on Sept. 20, 2022.
In its argument, the camp of Cornejo said proper legal procedures require that Navarro be immediately brought to jail after his arrest.
“The denial of the Motion for Reconsideration of the accused in the Court of Appeals allows for the full and proper execution of the warrant of arrest,” it said.
Presiding Judge Loralie Cruz Datahan of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 issued a warrant of arrest without bail against Navarro on September 19 for allegedly raping Cornejo on Jan. 17, 2014.
“The rules of court provide that the arresting officer should bring the accused to the nearest police station or jail without unnecessary delay,” it added.
