New Delhi: India’s great player Mithali Raj believes that three to four members of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup (U-19 Women’s World Cup 2023) can play at the senior level and 2025 ODI World Cup (ODI World Cup 2025) can play an important role. Leg-spinner Parshvi Chopra, opener Shweta Sehrawat, fast bowler Titas Sadhu, off-break bowler Archani Devi and left-arm spinner Mannat Kashyap have all done exceptionally well in the tournament in South Africa.

Mithali Raj was invited by the International Cricket Council to interact with the players ahead of the first T20 World Cup. Mithali Raj believes that women’s cricket has found such a platform from where players can be groomed for the future. Mithali said, “Spinners and fast bowlers have affected a lot. We need to improve the performance in both the departments at the senior level. It’s always good to have more options.”
He said, “We have to work on them. They are really very talented. He will also have to play domestic cricket. Women’s IPL will also give them exposure. The next ODI World Cup is to be held in India and we haven’t won the World Cup at the senior level. I am sure BCCI will keep these players in mind. Regarding the conversation he had with captain Shafali Verma before the tournament, he said, “There was no discussion on technique. We talked about preparation. These girls are very young and there is a difference between team practice and private practice. I talked about that. They are all enthusiastic and eager to learn.” He also praised the women’s under-19 coach Nusheen Al Qadir.(Agency)
