Speaking at a special press conference for season 2 of ‘The Night Manager’ in Mumbai, the actress said that she has played various roles in her career. His acting cannot be tied to any one genre. Speaking about the criteria for choosing roles, Tilottama Shome said, “The thing is, I get bored very quickly. As a child, my father was in the Air Force, so every four years we would move and learn new languages and go to new schools. Of course, I never wanted to be an actress. But I think somewhere it was a preparation for the future.
She further added that I played a maid in my first film Monsoon Wedding, it was portrayed in such a romantically magical way that I didn’t realize that I would have to face the brunt of playing a maid. The director could only envision me playing a role of a certain class. At the beginning of my career, I didn’t have much choice.
The actress shared that as her bank balance grew and as she grew up, she felt annoyed that she was earning money by playing a certain role, which she is not. The actress said, I should be allowed to play all kinds of roles. Some filmmakers had to take that risk and imagine me differently. ‘Night Manager’ is also an example of this, where Sandeep envisioned a different role from me. Tilottama Shome is a wonderful talent.
