The ICC ODI World Cup, 2023 tournament is to be played entirely in Indian grounds, hosted by India, which will take place in October-November 2023 next year, about 11 months from now. And since, this tournament will be played in India, the best performance on the domestic pitch will be expected from the Indian team.
Significantly, after the ICC Champions Trophy, 2013, Team India has not been able to win any ICC trophy. Talking about the World Cup, after the ICC ODI World Cup, 2011, no World Cup has come in India’s shell.
Currently, Indian team India is on a tour of New Zealand to play 3-3 ODI and T20I series. Many senior players have been rested in this tour. Significantly, before the ICC ODI World Cup, 2023, the schedule of Team India is very busy. Before this upcoming World Cup, Team India has to play 8 Tests, 25 ODIs and 12 T20 Internationals. Apart from this, most of the players of Team India have to play in IPL 2023 as well. A total of 74 matches will be played in IPL 2023.
Significantly, a test match is of 5 days. In such a situation, 40 days will go in total 8 Test matches. Apart from this, 25 ODIs will take 25 days and T20Is will take 12 days. In this way, players will be busy in international matches for a total of 77 days. IPL will also happen. In which a team has to play at least 14 matches. Some players will also be busy in IPL Play-off and IPL 2023 Final match. Almost all the players will be busy in IPL 2023 for the whole 2 months. In such a situation, there is a possibility of both its advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is that the players of Team India will sit for the World Cup, and the disadvantage is that they may not be able to perform properly in the World Cup due to the fatigue of so many matches.
