New Delhi: The T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in a different format in which the participating 20 nations will be divided into four groups of five teams each, while the first round will be followed by a Super Eight stage. In the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups, the Super 12 stage was held after the first round, but in the next tournament, the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Super Eight stage, which will again be divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each of the two Super Eight groups will then advance to the semi-finals, followed by the final.
Twelve teams have already booked their places for the next phase of the tournament to be played in West Indies and America. The hosts West Indies and the United States took the first two spots. The top eight teams (top four teams from each Super 12 group) from the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Australia have qualified for the 2024 tournament, which includes defending champions and runners-up Pakistan.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh have also confirmed their place. According to the press release of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the last eight places of the year 2024 tournament will be decided by the regional qualification tournament.
The ICC said in a release, “South Africa secured the 2024 qualification position by finishing in the top eight. Zimbabwe could not capitalize on a strong start to the campaign, finishing last in their Super 12 group, which would require them to play in a regional qualification tournament. ,
