Sydney: Aggressive all-rounder Cameron Green has been included in Australia’s T20 squad as a replacement for injured wicket-keeper batsman Josh Inglis. Inglis (27 years) suffered a hand injury in an accident while playing golf at the New South Wales club.
“The Event Technical Committee for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has approved the addition of Cameron Green to the Australian squad in place of Josh Inglis,” the ICC said in a statement. “Green, who has played seven T20Is, was picked after Inglis injured his right hand,” it said. Defending champions Australia will start their campaign against New Zealand in the first match of the tournament on Saturday.

Australia coach Andrew McDonald said, “The injury to his (Josh) palm will make it difficult to catch the bat and if he keeps wicket it will also affect it.” Green had scored runs at a strike rate of 200, including two half-centuries, in the T20I series in India. (agency)
