Namibia defeated Sri Lanka in the group stage at the start of the tournament. Whereas, Ireland and Scotland defeated the two-time T20 World Champion West Indies and pulled out of the tournament itself. At the same time, Ireland defeated England in the Super 12 and dashed their hopes. Zimbabwe also proved that they cannot be taken lightly in this tournament by defeating Pakistan.

The BCCI President said during a media interaction, “It is good that junior teams are coming. Zimbabwe and Ireland have proved this in this T20 World Cup. You can no longer take small teams lightly. They can easily beat you. I think now it will be difficult for Pakistan to make it to the (semi-finals).
