T20 World Cup 2022: For the T20 World Cup 2022, BCCI has announced the replacement player for Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Shami has been included in the team in place of Bumrah. Jasprit was ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury. The Cricket Board has given this information by issuing a press release.
The BCI wrote that the All India Senior Selection Committee has picked Mohammed Shami as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Shami has reached Australia. Will join the team in Brisbane before the practice matches. Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur have been named as backups. He will soon leave for Australia.
Shami had corona
Mohammed Shami was first given a place as a standby. He was part of the team in the home series against Australia last month, but was ruled out due to corona infection. Due to lack of recovery, he could not be part of the T20 series against South Africa.
Cricket record of Mohammed Shami
The BCCI has given importance to the experience of Mohammed Shami. Shami has played 60 Tests, 82 ODIs and 17 T20s for India so far. He has taken 216 wickets in Tests, 152 in ODIs and 18 wickets in T20s.
