New Delhi: Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to injury, which is a major setback for the team ahead of next month’s ICC tournament.
An official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told PTI that Bumrah is suffering from severe back pain and may have to be out of the team for months.
A BCCI official told PTI on the condition of confidentiality, “It is certain that Bumrah will not be able to play in the T20 World Cup. He has severe back pain and may have to be out for six months.
Bumrah played two T20Is against Australia but did not travel to Thiruvananthapuram to play the first match of the series against South Africa. Bumrah is the second Indian player after Ravindra Jadeja to miss the World Cup. Jadeja is recovering from a knee operation. (agency)
