T20 Cricket: Team India was out of the T20 World Cup with the embarrassing defeat of 10 wickets against England. After this, it is believed that some senior players of Team India will be discharged from the T20 team. It is discussed that this was the last T20 World Cup for Ravichandran Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik and now they will retire. BCCI has also started its preparation. In the media report quoting BCCI sources, it has been told that there will be major changes in Team India in the next 24 months. As far as the future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is concerned, BCCI will leave it to both the players to decide for themselves.
Next T20 World Cup will be played after two years
The next T20 World Cup is just two years away. According to sources, the team management is considering Hardik Pandya as the next captain of the T20 team. According to a PTI report, a BCCI source said, the board never asks anyone to retire. This is a personal decision. But yes, a new team will be created in 2023 and most of the senior players will focus on ODIs and Test matches.
Coach Rahul Dravid was also asked a question about this in the press conference held after the semi-final loss. Dravid said that it is too early to talk about the exclusion of senior players and the inclusion of new players in the team.
When asked about the future of players like Rahul Sharma, Dravid said, “It is too early to talk about it after the semi-final match.” These guys have been great performers for us. Like you said, we have a few years to consider it. It is believed that some players of Team India may announce their retirement from T20 on their return home.
