Suryakumar Yadav has become the No. 1 batsman in the ICC T20I rankings just days after scoring a brilliant 68 against South Africa in the current T20I rankings. He also scored a half-century against the Netherlands in India’s second match of the tournament. The best T20 batsman, Suryakumar Yadav has claimed the number 1 spot in the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen released on Wednesday. Suriya has been one of the most in-form batsmen in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. In 3 matches so far in the tournament, Suriya has registered scores of 15, 51* and 68.
He has now become the 23rd player to top the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen and only the second Indian to claim the peak position. Virat Kohli is the only other Indian to claim the number one spot in the T20I rankings for batsmen. England captain Jos Buttler also moved up three places in the rankings to 14th after scoring 73 against New Zealand.
Suryakumar made a brilliant cameo with the bat against Bangladesh, in which he scored 30 runs in just 16 balls. New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips also moved up the rankings. He achieved his career-best seventh position after scores of 104 against Sri Lanka and 62 against England. South African batsman Riley Rossouw also broke into the top 10 with 109 against Bangladesh.
