    New Delhi: Afghanistan’s team has been out of the semi-final race from the T20 World Cup 2022. Afghanistan (SL vs AFG) lost by 6 wickets in the match against Sri Lanka played in Brisbane on Tuesday. With this, the team’s dream of reaching the semi-finals now remained a dream. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 144 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. But, in reply, Sri Lanka achieved the target in the 19th over for the loss of only 4 wickets.

    Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and elected to bat first. The Afghan opening pair scored 42 runs for the first wicket in 6.1 overs. Then Rahmanullah Gurbaz returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs off 24 balls. Usman Ghani (27) was also dismissed soon after him. In this match, Afghan batsmen played average innings but could not increase the run rate.

    Because of this, the entire Afghan team could only score 144 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets for Sri Lanka. While Lahiru Kumara also took two wickets. Kasun Rajita and Dhananjay de Silva also showed the way to the 1-1 Afghan player to the pavilion.

Apart from these, Charith Aslanka scored 19 and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 18 runs.
