New Delhi: The New Zealand team had come on a tour of Pakistan (New Zealand vs Pakistan). During this Test and ODI series were played between the visiting team and the host team. New Zealand drew the first two-match Test series and then defeated Pakistan 2–1 in the ODI series. The new PCB chairman Najam Sethi had chosen the interim selection committee headed by Shahid Afridi for the New Zealand series only. After this, it will permanently constitute the selection committee. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain and chairman of the interim selection committee, Afridi thanked the PCB in a tweet.
He wrote, “Thank you PCB for giving me the responsibility of chief selector for Pakistan and New Zealand series. I have enjoyed this responsibility. Hope I have lived up to the expectations of the fans with my brave decisions. I will always be ready to do whatever help I can.”
The selection committee headed by Shahid Afridi made several major changes in the Pakistan team. He included three new bowlers in the Test team. Along with this, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed also returned to the playing-11 of the Test.
