Kathmandu. Nepal’s star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has got relief in the rape case of a 17-year-old minor. A court here has issued an order for the bail release of the accused Lamichhane. He will be released tomorrow on a surety of Rs 20 lakh. However, the court Lamichhane’s foreign travel has been banned with certain conditions.

Significantly, on September 6, a 17-year-old minor girl lodged an FIR against Sandeep Lamichhane, the then captain of the Nepal national cricket team, alleging rape. Two days after this complaint, an arrest warrant was issued against Lamichhane. The same day, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) also suspended Lamichhane from the team.
The minor girl alleged that, the cricketer raped her in a hotel in the month of August (2021). On August 21, Sandeep allegedly took the girl to various places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Raped her the same night in a hotel in Kathmandu.
