According to the information, the Kathmandu District Court on Friday ordered Nepal’s star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to be sent to judicial custody till the final hearing in the rape case of a minor. In fact, this star player of Nepal and former captain of the Nepalese national cricket team is facing serious charges of raping a minor. It is to be known that Sandeep was arrested on October 6 in the rape case.
Yes, on 6 September, a 17-year-old minor girl lodged an FIR against the then captain of the Nepal national cricket team, Sandeep Lamichhane, alleging rape. Two days after this complaint, an arrest warrant was issued against Lamichhane. On the same day, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) also suspended Lamichhane from the team. At the same time, the Nepal Cricket Association has appointed Rohit Paudel as the captain of the Nepal men’s national cricket team.

On the matter, Kathmandu’s Sundara District Police Range Superintendent of Police Dineshraj Mainali told the local media that the cricketer would be kept in the Central Jail till the final decision on the matter. In the complaint lodged by the police, he has demanded a rigorous punishment of 12 years against Lamichhane. But, on the other hand, Lamichhane has been claiming his innocence since day one. He says it is this small part of a conspiracy against him.
