    Rizal drug bust yields P7 million worth of shabu

    CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City: Two big-time drug personalities operating in Rizal province were arrested and P7 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated by the San Mateo Police and Rizal Police Provincial Intelligence Unit on Monday, September 26, in Barangay Gulod Malaya, San Mateo, Rizal.

    The arrested suspects were identified as Diadema Cielo Babasa alias Kikay and Betty Cielo Babasa alias Bet, both residents of San Mateo, Rizal.

    Based on the report, alias Kikay was caught in the act of selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a police officer who acted as a buyer. Another sachet, also containing suspected shabu, was recovered from alias Bet during the buy-bust.

    One big bag containing eight sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 1.026 kilograms worth P6 979,520 were also confiscated from the suspects.

    Police Regional Office 4-A director BGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. praised the operatives of San Mateo MPS and Rizal PPIU for the arrest of the two known drug personalities.

    “I want to congratulate our operatives for a job well done. I am overwhelmed by this success. It only proves that we are on the right track in our campaign against illegal drugs,” Nartatez said.

    Meanwhile, the regional director ordered an in-depth investigation on the previously arrested drug personality identified as Babasa on Saturday, September 24, also in San Mateo, Rizal, wherein P1.6 million worth of shabu was seized.

    “There is a possibility that there are big drug personalities operating in San Mateo, Rizal. You can rest assure that will keep a tight watch in this region until we prevent the drug menace from disrupting the peace here,” Nartatez added.
