In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Prithvi Shaw once again emerged as a hero in Mumbai’s victory with a scintillating innings. This is Mumbai’s third consecutive win in this latest tournament and Prithvi has done well in all three.

Today on Friday, against Assam in Rajkot (Mumbai vs Assam Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, 2022), Prithvi Shaw scored his first century in T20 cricket. In this match played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, he faced 61 balls and played an explosive innings of 134 runs with the help of 13 fours and 9 sixes.

Together with Yashasvi Jaiswal on the pitch, he shared a partnership of 114 runs for the second wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 42 runs. After the fiery innings of Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dubey played an unbeaten innings of 17 runs in 7 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six and made a mountain of 230 runs in front of Assam for the loss of 3 wickets. Assam got a target of 231 runs to win.

Significantly, in the last few months, Prithvi Shaw has done well, that too with full consistency. His performance in unofficial matches against New Zealand A (India A vs New Zealand A, 2022) was excellent. In the match played against New Zealand A in Chennai, Prithvi played a blistering innings of 77 runs in 48 balls and contributed to his team’s series win.

He started the season with an innings of 113 runs while playing for West Zone team against North East in Duleep Trophy-2022. And, against Central Zone in the semi-finals (Western Zone vs Central Zone Duleep Trophy, 2022), he did well.

Despite consistent performances, Prithvi Shaw did not find a place in the team against South Africa and Australia, which came to play the series on the recent tour of India. Disappointed by this, he focused his full attention on the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022).
