Prisoner attempted suicide in Beur Jail: Throat slit with blade, PMCH referred to Patna in critical condition

An inmate in Patna’s Beur Jail attempted suicide by slitting his throat with a blade on Tuesday evening. As soon as the information was received, an atmosphere of chaos and sensation was created in the entire jail. The detainee was admitted to the jail hospital in critical condition, where the doctors referred him to the PMCH in Patna for better treatment.

It is being told about the incident that Pappu Kumar, a prisoner of Danapur, has been lodged in Beur jail for the last several days in the case of liquor for 25 years. Jail sources say that he is addicted to drugs and in the state of intoxication, he keeps on doing some wrong activities.

On Monday evening, Pappu Kumar suddenly tried to commit suicide by cutting his throat by bringing blood from somewhere inside the jail. When the jail administration came to know about this, the jail administration hurriedly admitted him to the jail hospital for treatment. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the doctors of the jail hospital have referred him to the PMCH in Patna for better treatment. The jail administration is now busy in finding out why Pappu Kumar tried to commit suicide.

Confirming the case on the condition of anonymity, a jail official said that Pappu Kumar has been addicted to drugs. He has expressed the possibility that he used to be very restless and upset due to being addicted to drugs. On Tuesday, after taking blood from inside the jail, he made a wound mark on his neck at two or three places. He told that he has been sent to PMCH in Patna for treatment. In response to a question, he said that at present no written application has been given in Beur police station regarding this matter.
