Melbourne: Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has denied claims that his views on environmental issues cost Cricket Australia $40 million in its sponsorship deal with Alinta Energy.
A week before the tour of India, Cummins has once again come under the scanner of the controversy that started in October last year when he refused to appear in the sponsor’s advertisement.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Cummins raised concerns about the national team’s deal with Alinta Energy in a meeting with Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hawkley.

Alinta Energy then decided not to renew the sponsorship agreement after June 2023. Cummins told the news corps, “The position I am in, I get surrounded by various controversies. It has to be faced. Those who don’t know you judge you.
He further said, ‘My generation and people around it are very obsessive about many things. They are very open minded about things. Many people cannot give up their principles.
