Digital Desk, Lucknow. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday said that the censor board’s clearance of the film ‘Adipurush’ was no less than a ‘blunder’.
Continuing to criticize the makers of the film for the portrayal of religious characters from Ramayana including Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman in the film, a bench of Justice Rajesh Chauhan and Justice Shri Prakash Singh said, “If we close our mouths today, you know What will happen? Such incidents will increase day by day.”
“In a film, Lord Shankar is shown running with a trident in a funny way. Films do business and filmmakers make money. Looks like something is being done to disturb harmony.”
The court said: “If you make a documentary on the Quran, you will see what happens. It is not about any one religion. It is a coincidence that this issue is related to Ramayana.
The court rejected the argument that the film had a disclaimer, stating that it was not based on the Ramayana. It said, “You have Lord Rama, Sita and Hanuman and then you say it has nothing to do with Ramayana.”
However, the court also clarified that it is yet to pass any concrete order in the matter and the oral observations of the court were related to the issue at hand.
