Dubai: Afghanistan secured their place in the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in India next year after the second ODI against Sri Lanka at Pallikal was abandoned due to rain. Afghanistan added five more points to their tally on the World Cup Super League points table after the matches were washed out, taking their total to 115 points in the current cycle.

Afghanistan is currently at the seventh position in the current table. The top eight teams at the end of the Super League will get direct entry into the World Cup. While Afghanistan benefited from getting five points, the result was not favorable for Sri Lanka. His hopes of qualifying directly have now waned.
