Kane Williamson, who made New Zealand the first world championship ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 champion under his captaincy, has relinquished the captaincy of the Test cricket team. Now the team will be captained by Tim Southee Captain Test Team New Zealand.
However, Kane Williamson will play Test cricket besides captaining ODIs and T20Is. He has said that he would like to play international matches in all three formats at the moment.

Significantly, Tim Southee Captain New Zealand has played a total of 346 matches in his international career so far and has also led the T20I team in 22 matches. As regular captain, Tim Southee will tour Pakistan this month, where the Test series will be played between the two countries and this will be the first series of his Test career captaincy.
