Security forces on Friday succeeded in recovering a cache of arms, including seven AK-47 rifles, from Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The recovered weapons include 7 AK-47 rifles, 21 AK magazines, 1190 rounds, 2 China-made pistols, 132 pistol rounds, 13 grenades besides other arms and ammunition.
Police have registered a case and started investigation. On September 27, based on intelligence inputs, a search operation was launched along Nowshera Nad of the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector, a police official said.
After three days, a hideout was found on the bank of the drain on Thursday very close to the LoC. On excavation of the hideout, a cache of weapons was recovered from there. This large arms stockpile along the Line of Control has dealt a major blow to the terrorist groups conspiring to incite violence in the Kashmir Valley.
According to police sources, these weapons were probably dropped on the Line of Control by the terrorists, which were picked up and hidden by the people on this side of the border.
