Naxalite Arrested: In Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Sukma district, security forces have arrested a rewarded Naxalite worth Rs 5 lakh. Giving information about this on Friday, police officials said that Madavi Mohan, Area Command-in-Chief of Kerlapal Area Committee, has been arrested by the security forces in the forest between Upampalli and Gondpally villages under Pollampalli police station area of the district. 27-year-old Mohan has a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head.
‘On seeing the security forces, the Naxalites started running away’
Officials said that as part of the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the district, a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force, DRG and District Force was dispatched from Pollampalli police station towards Tongguda, Upampalli and Gondpalli villages on Friday night. Police officials said that when the security forces were moving from the forest and hills of Gondpalli village towards Upampalli village, about 12 uniformed and armed Naxalites in plain clothes were seen in the forest. However, the Naxalites started running away on seeing the security forces.
‘Total 29 cases are registered against Madvi Mohan’
Officials said that the security forces personnel Naxalites chased and laid siege and captured Mohan. Police officials said that the security forces recovered a gun, a pitoo bag (with 5 electric detonators, 3 gelatin rods, a compass) and other items from Naxalite Mohan. He said that Naxalite Madvi Mohan is working in Naxalite organization since the year 2009 and 29 cases like murder, robbery, dacoity, arson, attempt to murder, attack on police party are registered against him in Keralapal, Gadiras and Phulbagdi police stations of the district.
‘Karthik is a resident of the erstwhile village of Hidwa’
Police officials said that in some cases arrest warrants have been issued against him by the court. He is a resident of village Puvarti of Battalion Commander Hidma. Police officials said that during interrogation, Mohan informed the police that due to continuous construction and development of security camps in South Bastar division, Naxalites have had to leave many of their safe areas in the last few years. He told that the organization has become weak due to continuous surrender of Naxalites in Keralapal area.
