Balasubramaniam, Madurai North district deputy secretary of Naam Tamilar Party, was murdered this morning. Madurai city police commissioner said Balasubramaniam was killed when he was passing through the road near the residence of state minister Palanivel Thiagarajan.

Police said in their information that an OBC leader of Bharatiya Janata Party was allegedly killed by unknown people in broad daylight near Vandiyur Toll Gate in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. This incident happened in Madurai on Thursday. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Sakthivel (35), a resident of Thevar Kurinji Nagar, Madurai. He was the secretary of OBC Morcha of Madurai BJP.
A Madurai city police officer said, “BJP functionaries were found dead with cut wounds near the Vandiyur toll gate. The police initially started investigation on the accidental aspect, but later found a wound on the body.”
