    New Delhi: Indian team opener batsman Murali Vijay has retired from all forms of cricket. He told about this by tweeting. Murali Vijay played the last international match for the Indian team in 2018. After which he was failing to make a place in the team. At the same time, today he said goodbye to cricket. The Indian opener batsman has played all the three formats for India. Vijay made his international debut in 2008.

    Murali Vijay tweeted, “Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket with gratitude and humility. My journey from 2002 to 2018 has been one of the most amazing years of my life as it was an honor to represent India at the highest level of the game. ,

    He further wrote, “I am thankful to BCCI, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, Chennai Super Kings and Chemplast Sanmar for giving me this opportunity. All my teammates, coaches, mentors and support staff, it was a privilege to play with all of you and I am thankful to all of you. ,

    Murali Vijay further wrote, “I am excited to announce that I will be looking for new opportunities in the world of cricket and the business side of it, where I will continue to participate in the sport I love and in a new and different environment. I will challenge myself I believe this is the next step in my journey as a cricketer and I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life. ,

    international career

    It is noteworthy that Murali Vijay, the Indian opener, has played matches in all three formats for Team India. He has played a total of 61 Test matches for Team India. Where he has scored 3982 runs in 105 innings at an average of 38.28. This includes 12 centuries and 15 half-centuries. Whereas, Vijay scored 339 runs in 16 innings of 17 ODIs at an average of 21.18. This includes a half-century. Vijay has also played 9 T20 Internationals for the Indian team, scoring 169 runs at an average of 18.77 and a strike rate of 109.74.
