It may be noted that about two weeks back, the Sharjah Court had not only acquitted Krishan of all charges in the counterfeit drug case, but also directed that his passport be handed over and he be allowed to return home.
Since then, we have been eagerly waiting for his return, a distraught Premila Perera told IANS. Yesterday, when she went to Sharjah Central Jail, they said that it might take a month or two for her passport to be issued.
Premila claimed that the jail authorities have also indicated that Krishan may be deported to India. He said the trauma of the past few months is taking a toll on Chrisann’s mental and physical health.
Premila demanded, the court orders are very clear then why are the jail authorities not respecting the court’s decision? Why should they withhold his passport.
He is very concerned that the wounds from the last nearly three months on foreign land have begun to affect Chrisann’s health.
Premila said, we have already sent her psychiatric drugs, she is alone and unable to bear the torture any more. If anything happens to him, will the Sharjah government take responsibility for it?
The family also regrets that despite repeated requests, neither the Indian Embassy nor the Ministry of External Affairs is ready to help in this matter.
Worried about mounting expenses and bills, Premila is now preparing to visit the UAE for the third time in three months to attend to her daughter’s health issues and try to appeal to the Sharjah authorities for help.
Pereiras said that it is shocking that the Sharjah Jail is not respecting the directions of the Sharjah court and police investigators, who had investigated the sensitive matter in a very thorough and professional manner.
On 1st April, Chrisann unknowingly got caught in the spurious drugs case and was arrested by the Sharjah (UAE) Police, after which she spent around 25 days in jail there.
As soon as her family went to the Mumbai Police for help, Premila said, she got bail on April 26 and the investigation finally helped her come out unscathed.
Chrisann was all set to get her passport back, and had hoped to leave the long hardship behind and return to India last week. (IANS report- 14 June).
Now, Chrisann is in trouble again – the family terms it a travesty of justice by Sharjah prison authorities – they are unsure when she will return home and the nightmare will end.
