The central government has approved Rs 209 crore for a 2 km long ropeway project from Ujjain railway station to Mahakal temple in Madhya Pradesh. With its construction, the distance from the railway station to the Mahakal temple will be covered in 5 minutes.
Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh said on Friday that this would provide a lot of convenience to the devotees. He thanked the Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for approving the project.
He said, this project to be completed at a cost of 209 crores will further increase the attraction after Mahakal Lok. Mahakaleshwar Temple of Ujjain is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and lakhs of devotees from all over the country reach here.
He said, it is the BJP government’s vision and the advantages of double engine government in the country which is developing Ujjain into a big religious and cultural center of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the 856 crore Mahakal corridor project. The cost of the first phase will be Rs 351 crore.
