London: England’s limited-overs captain Jos Buttler has admitted that he is upset at not being able to pick the best team for international tournaments as players prefer franchise cricket. Alex Hales, Sam Billings and David Willey have decided not to play the series against Bangladesh in March to play franchise cricket.
Butler (Jos Buttler) told ‘ESPN Cricinfo’, “We want to choose our best available team.” In the World Cup and big ICC tournaments. Sometimes there is frustration that we are not able to do so but I understand the decision of the players. England have picked 37 players in the 33 ODIs they have played since the 2019 World Cup.

Butler (Jos Buttler) said, “This is a strange situation. The way the matches are scheduled, we have to understand both the sides. Being the captain of England, I want the best players to play but then from the point of view of the players, there is a lot of difference between earning money from playing for England and playing franchise cricket, which has to be understood.
England have picked two new players Tom Abel and Rehan Ahmed in the squad ahead of the Bangladesh tour. Butler said, “In these circumstances you have to choose the best available option. If someone doesn’t play then someone else will get a chance but I don’t want to get into a situation where you say this player will never play for England again.” (agency)
