JDU’s state spokesperson Dr. Sunil Kumar and Abhishek Jha took a dig at the BJP and said that the Gujarat model of the Prime Minister is a complete failure. The model of development on which the BJP came to power at the Center in the year 2014. His drum has broken. This is the reason why it was not even named during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

    Compared to Gujarat

Comparing various health parameters with that of the so called backward state of Bihar with Gujarat, a rich state of the country, the spokespersons said that the statistics are shocking. According to the National Family Health Survey-5 for the year 2019-21, Bihar has performed better than Gujarat in many health related statistics. According to these figures, the number of malnourished and hyper-malnourished children is low and the number of women delivering in government hospitals is high.

Bihar changed during Nitish Kumar’s time

The spokespersons said that this better performance of Bihar is the result of the service of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar towards the people of Bihar. In the year 2004-05, the ratio of malnourished/underweight children in Bihar was 27, which has been brought back on track by the Nitish government and has brought that ratio to 22.9 per one thousand children today.

As of 2004-05, the proportion of pregnant women in Bihar who had access to attendant care facilities was 34%, which has increased to 52.9% by 2019-20. Till 2004-05, Bihar had only three medical colleges and no nursing college. But today there are fifteen medical colleges in Bihar and nursing is also taught in all medical colleges. At least one nursing college is running in all the districts.
