Jaydev Unadkat: Last Test played in 2010
The 19-year-old Jaydev last played a Test match in 2010 against South Africa. Jaidev, who was part of the Centurion Test then, had not yet got a second chance. However, he continued working hard. Continued to perform well year after year at the domestic level. Jaidev’s performance in three back-to-back Ranji seasons was such that he kept knocking on the doors of the Indian team but was not selected. Also took a record 67 wickets in a season. After Saurashtra won the Ranji this season, he also made the team champion in the Vijay Hazare Trophy by taking the highest wickets of 19 wickets. Finally, now the hard work has paid off.
Know about Jaidev’s family
Jaidev’s parents live in Porbandar, while his wife Rinni, sister Dheera and brother-in-law Parth Thakar live in Rajkot. Father Deepak Bhai Unadkat said, we are very happy. By the grace of God and blessings of the elders, this news came after a long time. Jaydev has been playing for so many years, his performance speaks for itself. Talking about the reaction of Jaidev’s mother, she said that she too was very happy. After getting the news, we visited Shrinathji and made the people around us salivate.
Can’t describe the feeling in words: Rinne
Jaidev’s wife said, I cannot express in words. I waited for 2 years, but everyone else in the family waited for 12 years. We are grateful that Jaidev got this opportunity. Rinni further said, we had gone to Virpur in the morning itself. After winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy, we had said that Jalaram would go to Bapa’s darshan. When we were returning from darshan, Jaidev called and informed us. We started squealing with joy in the car. Then we had jalebi-gathiya in a very traditional Saurashtra style.
Parth Thackeray said that the first Ranji match of next season will be his 100th first-class match. We were planning to celebrate it. Now celebrating like this is like icing on the cake. Jaydev, keep playing the way you came to play and keep making us proud. We are hopeful that the hard work they have put in will pay off at the next level as well.
