Women’s IPL can happen with 5 teams
The BCCI is planning to conduct the first season of the women’s IPL with five teams. Women’s IPL may be held in March 2023. In this 22 matches can be played. A franchise will have a maximum of 18 players. In which 6 will be foreigners. A maximum of 5 foreign players can play in the playing XI. Of these, 4 full member countries and 1 associate country will have players.
BCCI is considering two options to sell IPL teams. Under the first option, teams can be divided into 6 zones. These include North Zone, South Zone, Central Zone, East Zone, North East Zone and West Zone. The other option is that the teams will be sold. In the league stage, the teams will play each other in two matches. The team topping the points table will advance to the final. The second and third ranked teams will play the Eliminator match.
