MAKKAH — The Ministry of Interior has issued guidelines to ensure the safety and security of Umrah pilgrims and worshippers and enable them to perform their rituals in ease and comfort at the Grand Mosque in Makkah during the annual peak Umrah season of Ramadan.

These guidelines include prohibitions such as carrying or bringing in weapons and sharp tools of all kinds into the Grand Mosque and its courtyards; collecting donations for any purpose; and bringing motorcycles and bicycles into the courtyards and roads leading to it in the Central Haram Area. The ministry also prohibited smoking, begging, and selling in the Grand Mosque and its courtyards; carrying luggage and personal items, or hanging them on windows from inside or outside the Grand Mosque or leaving them in the courtyards, and doing any act that affects the peace of mind of pilgrims and worshipers during the performance of Tawaf, Sa’i, and prayer.

The guidelines include instructions with regard to reaching the Grand Mosque for Umrah or prayer via public transport buses, the Haramain High-Speed Train, private vehicles, taxis, and shuttle buses. The guide also provides information about parking lots within and outside Makkah.

The digital guidelines for Umrah performers outline informative messages indicating available areas for Tawaf (circumambulation around the Holy Kaaba) and the pathways leading to them, with directional signs placed at the entrances of the Grand Mosque and throughout its courtyards. Visitors can also find various tips to help ensure their safety and security while performing Umrah and prayers with ease.
