Cape Town. Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is still recovering from a finger injury that will rule her out of the Women’s T20 World Cup opener against Pakistan on Sunday. Mandhana (26 years) was injured while fielding during the warm-up match against Australia earlier this week and she did not play in the second warm-up match against Bangladesh.
Caretaker coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar said in the press conference, “Smriti’s finger is still injured and she is still recovering, so she is unlikely to play. There is no fracture in her finger and we expect her to be available from the second match onwards.”
