Indore. South Africa thrashed India by 49 runs in the third and final T20I match but lost the series 1-2 in the third and final T20 International here on Tuesday, following a brilliant performance by the bowlers after Riley Roseau’s career maiden century. Rosseau scored an unbeaten 100 off 48 balls with eight sixes and seven fours, apart from 90 for the second wicket with De Kock (68) and 87 for the third wicket with Tristan Stubbs (23) to help South Africa Made a huge score of 227 runs for three wickets.
David Miller scored an unbeaten 19 off just five balls in the end. The Indian team in reply lost wickets at regular intervals and the team never looked in a position to chase the target and were eventually bundled out for 178 runs in 18.3 overs. Dinesh Karthik scored 46 runs for India. Apart from them, only Deepak Chahar (31), Rishabh Pant (27) and Umesh Yadav (20 not out) could touch the 20-run mark. Dwayne Pretorius took three wickets for 26 runs for South Africa.

Keshav Maharaj (2 for 34), Wayne Parnell (2 for 41) and Lungi Ngidi (2 for 51) played well with them, picking up two wickets each. Playing without in-form vice-captain Lokesh Rahul and Virat Kohli, India had a very poor start and the team’s score was reduced to four for two in the second over itself.
Captain Rohit Sharma (00) was caught on the second ball of the innings by Kagiso Rabada (1 for 24) while in the next over, Parnell took Shreyas Iyer (01) lbw. Karthik opened the account with a boundary off Parnell while opener Pant also hit a four off Rabada. Pant welcomed Lungi Ngidi with two sixes and as many fours but the last ball was given a simple catch to Stubbs in cover. He hit two sixes and three fours in his 14-ball innings.
Karthik hit two sixes and a four in successive deliveries from Parnell. India scored 64 for three in the power play. Karthik also hit two consecutive sixes on Maharaj but was bowled off the last ball of the left-arm spinner’s over. He hit four sixes and as many fours while facing 21 balls. Suryakumar Yadav too, after scoring eight runs, was caught by Stubbs off Dwayne Pretorius, which took India’s score to 86 for five.
India completed the century in the 11th over. Harshal Patel (17) hit a four and a six off Ngidi but then got caught by Miller. Parnell gave India the seventh blow by getting Axar Patel (09) caught by wicketkeeper de Kock. Ravichandran Ashwin (02) caught Rabada off Maharaj’s ball. Chahar hit a four and a six off successive deliveries from Maharaj.
India needed 86 runs in the last five overs. Chahar hit sixes on Ngidi and Pretorius but then got caught by Miller, which ended India’s true hope. Pretorius gave South Africa victory by getting Mohammad Siraj (05) caught by Miller.
Earlier, the South African batsmen put on 108 runs in the last eight overs. The four fast bowlers of India are Deepak Chahar (one wicket for 48 runs in four overs), Mohammad Siraj (44 runs without a wicket in four overs), Harshal Patel (49 runs in four overs) and Umesh Yadav (in three overs). One wicket for 34 runs) proved to be quite expensive. Rohit won the toss and decided to bowl. De Kock looked in rhythm from the beginning. He hit sixes on Siraj and Chahar.

Bavuma scored the first run in the third innings of the series with a run off Siraj. However, his struggle continued and he was caught by Rohit on the very first ball of Umesh after scoring three runs. Roseau started his innings with two consecutive fours off Umesh and then also hit sixes on Ashwin and Siraj. South Africa scored 48 runs for one wicket in the power play. De Kock completed his fifty in 33 balls with a six on Umesh.
De Kock took the team’s score beyond 100 runs in the 11th over with two consecutive fours on Harshal. He, however, was then run out on an accurate throw by Iyer from deep midwicket in an attempt to take two runs. He hit six fours and four sixes in his 43-ball knock. Young Stubbs hits Umesh for a six as he comes. Roseau completed his half-century in just 27 balls with a six off Axar Patel. Stubbs was lucky on 13 when Chahar had a chance to run him out for being too far on the bowling end but the Indian bowler let him off with a warning.
Stubbs was lucky after that when Umesh took his catch at third man but it turned out to be a no-ball. Roseau completed his century in 48 balls with a run in the last over of Chahar’s innings but Ashwin was caught by Stubbs (23) on the next ball.
