The current and excitement that is seen in the matches of India and Pakistan (IND vs PAK) in the cricket field is not seen in the competition of any other two countries. The teams of India and Pakistan clashed in the ICC T20 World Cup, 2022 this year, in which India defeated Pakistan in a very exciting match.
This high voltage match was played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and a record number of sports lovers came to the stadium to watch the match. In view of this, Melbourne Cricket Club is once again planning to host the Test match between the two teams Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC). The MCC, which oversees the management of the MCG, and the Victorian government have discussed this matter with Cricket Australia.
Significantly, more than 90 thousand spectators had come to the stadium to watch the India vs Pakistan match in the ICC T20 World Cup, 2022.
IND vs PAK last test series was played 15 years back
In a statement regarding this plan, MCC CEO Stuart Fox said that Cricket Australia should talk to the ICC about this. He said, it is expected that Cricket Australia will continue to insist on this.
Significantly, the last Test series between India and Pakistan was played 15 years ago in the year 2007 (India vs Pakistan Test Series, 2007). Thereafter, relations between the two countries soured in the wake of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and no series was played. However, the clash between these two countries has been taking place in ICC tournaments.

Hoping to fill the stadium
Pakistan is scheduled to play the Boxing Day Test match against Australia at the MCG in 2023 in the next cycle of the World Test Championship. Fox hopes that in this match of the three-Test series, the stadium will be packed like the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan. He said, ‘The kind of atmosphere that was there in that match between India and Pakistan, I had never seen such atmosphere in MCG before. The noise after each ball was unprecedented. People enjoyed it to the fullest with their families and children.
The two teams last met in a bilateral series in 2012.
Due to political reasons, the bilateral series between India and Pakistan has been closed for many years. The last bilateral series between the two teams was played in the year 2012. Then a series of three T20 and three ODIs was played. Since then both the teams have never clashed in a bilateral series. However, during this time they have definitely been facing each other in ICC tournaments.
