A few days ago Team India was on a tour of New Zealand. In which white ball series was played between India and New Zealand (New Zealand vs India T20 ODI Series, 2022 India on New Zealand Tour). T20I series and ODI series of 3-3 matches were played. In the T20I series, India won the series 1–0 and New Zealand won the ODI series 1–0. However, rain washed out the 2nd ODI. The result came in just one shot. Two players emerged as the cynosure of the eye in the ODI series.

According to Team India’s former coach and current commentator Ravi Shastri, the team can still learn a lot from the three innings in the ODI series with Shubman Gill’s batting and Umran Malik’s bowling.

Significantly, after the cancellation of the last match of the ODI series in Christchurch on Wednesday, New Zealand won the series 1-0. The second match of the series scheduled in Hamilton did not even start due to heavy rain. But, whenever the rain stayed away, players like Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar and Umran attracted Ravi Shastri. Ravi Shastri said in a statement, “I believe that a lot of positivity has come from this ODI series (New Zealand vs India ODI Series, 2022). Shreyas Iyer is scoring well. Surely Suryakumar Yadav has the capacity, the talent and he will perform.”

Ravi Shastri further said, “Washington Sundar showed a great game. I liked Umran Malik’s bowling. He has the ability. If they can become sharper, that would be great. Shubman Gill played good innings. The conditions were tough, but these conditions don’t come often.

And, touring New Zealand has to be called a great experience for young players. This tour of New Zealand was very beneficial for Team India’s all-rounder Washington Sundar. Significantly, earlier he had missed the foreign tour due to injury. In the first match of the series, he played a steady inning of 51 runs in 64 balls in the difficult conditions of the Hagley Oval ground.

Ravi Shastri said that he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and showed maturity with the bat. His footwork was very positive. He batted well in difficult conditions.
