New Delhi: India A captain Abhimanyu Easwaran is likely to be called up as cover for injured skipper Rohit Sharma for the second Test against Bangladesh starting December 14 in Chittagong. Rohit will be ruled out of the Test series due to a dislocated thumb bone on his left hand.
A BCCI source told PTI, “Abhimanyu Easwaran has scored two consecutive hundreds in the A Test series. He will join the Indian team for the second Test in Chittagong after the completion of the second A Test in Sylhet.

Easwaran scored 141 in the first A Test and was unbeaten on 144 at the end of the second day’s play in the second. Shubman Gill and caretaker captain KL Rahul will start the Indian innings. It is understood that Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar or Umran Malik could replace the injured Mohammed Shami.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who could not play a single match after a knee operation, will play straight Tests. Akshar Patel is in the team and Saurabh Kumar can be called from the A team as a backup. Suryakumar Yadav is confirmed to play Ranji for Mumbai this season. (agency)
