Ind vs Aus WT20 WC: The first semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup being played in South Africa was played today. The Indian team got disappointed in this. The Indian team is now out of the World Cup after losing by 5 runs to Australia. In the last over, India needed 16 runs to win. Deepti and Radha tried to win, but India were left out by 5 runs.
Australia has won the title five times out of seven editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The Indian team has been able to reach the final only once. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team’s hopes of sealing a place in the final by beating formidable Australia were dashed today.
Batting first, Australia scored 172 runs. Chasing the target, Harmanpreet Kaur hit a half-century, but could not lead India to victory. India could only score 167 runs in 20 overs at the loss of 8 wickets.
Batting first after winning the toss, Australia gave India a target of 173 runs thanks to the excellent batting of Beth Mooney (53) and Meg Lanning (49 not out). They put up a strong score of 172/4 in 20 overs. Beth hit seven fours and a six in his 37-ball innings. He also got a life, while Meg was brilliant in her unbeaten 34-ball innings.
Chasing the target, India got off to a poor start. Shefali Verma was dismissed early after scoring 9 runs and Smriti Mandhana 2 runs. After this Yastika Bhatia also could not do anything special. She was run out after scoring four runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah brought India back into the match. Harmanpreet scored 52 runs before getting out. At the same time, Jemima scored 43 runs. Deepti Sharma fought back in the end, but India lost the match by 5 runs. With this defeat, India’s dream of winning the T20 World Cup was broken once again.
